-Process Post

Editing-  For my first post-production editing post, Ive decided to start with just editing the videos for part one. Making sure each video is cut precisely enough so there is a smooth flow going through. In this order, I'm using for part one: establishing shot, wide shot, mid-shot, 2 POV shots, two-shot, and long shot. When editing my cuts together, I've decided I want an establishing cut, with the front of the school and the hallway, so that the audience can get the sense of reality in a way.

Pre Sound- The editing for my film will be highly important, but the sound that will contribute to this first scene is most important. The audience will get an adrenaline rush due to the sound heightening with the cuts of the film. Once Nate hears a sound and bumps into Serena, the sound will fade out, almost just hearing the two of them.

Post Production Post (Illustrate production process)

This is a picture of the first part of the first scene, starting with the present school moment. Instead of  a classroom scene, I'm making it simpler and doing a cliche bump into each other scene. Having Natee in a rush to class, and once he turns the corner, he will hear a sound, turn around, and bump into Serenaa. -(In my defense, I've been watching a lot of Gossip Girl, giving me inspiration, so I had showcase Serenaa and Natee)- I was thinking of using internal diegetic sounds, and Natee will then turn around for it, creating the cliche bump.

Sounds-Bell rings, fast footsteps,  door opening, and the sound of them bumping into each other, maybe having a faded sound in the back of her mind coming from her corner, and having a POV shot of both of them, not her, until they bump into each other.

This is part one of the test. It will be called the present part one scene.

CCR Research #1

Amelia Dimoldenberg Goes on a Date With ...

- Talk show(Hot Ones)

In my project I had both used and challenged common conventions of romance films. Most romance stories show a confident male lead who knows exactly how he feels from the beginning. In my film, the boy gives a more quiet and more distant feel.. He is not fully aware of his emotions until the girl walks into him and memories begin to flow back. This challenges the typical stereotype of the emotionally strong and expressive male character. Instead he develops slowly, as we will see in the memory. I will use conventions like meaningful eye contact, soft lighting, and music to build emotional tension between the two characters.

My project also represents social groups and issues in a realistic way. My characters are high school students, which makes the story relatable to teenagers. It shows how young people deal with jealousy, confusion, and unspoken feelings. The scene where the girl is kissed by another boy in the club will highlight issues of miscommunication and even insecurity that many teens experience. Instead of making the girl seem like a villain, she is shown as independent and unsure of her own emotions. But overall, my product mixes traditional romance elements with a more realistic character development to show that teenage relationships are complicated and not always perfect.

Reflection post #2

As we all took turns to present the progress of our film production, I learned many camera techniques and lighting techniques that can be very helpful in the long run. When it was my turn to discuss, I needed insight on how I could still shape the idea of my film, but with a different setting from the original one I had. However, they suggested I could recreate a scene that I wanted to portray in the original setting. Fiona mentioned maybe creating this club scene in my garage or in a house. Have a bunch of people crowded and then focus on the two main people, plus with the background being faded, this could most likely work. Just would need the right lighting, camera techniques, and more characters to portray this.

Production Post

Camera techniques shape and develop any storyline. With characters body languages and facial expressions, camera techniques will emphasize the right way to show this to feel the emotions of the two charactors which is crucial . The camera techniques I will incorporate are extreme close-ups, mid two shots, over the shoulder, and I did want to try a slow tracking shot somewhere in my scene. With camera techniques, making sure lighting expresses the right font of shade. More of this film will involve a warm, soft tone. A golden hour shot can give too.

Production post

The production process is starting off a tad slow. With most of my actors being busy and away, unfortunately there was no time to begin the production process. However, I dug deeper into settings that I will be using that incorporate a dramatic, romantic and a slight attraction appeal. Another downside is since one of us can't get in the club, I had to change the setting. But the plot of my film will still be prioritized the same way and still have the same idea.

 Lincoln Road-

Today I visited Lincoln Road with my girls, this is what I can tell you. Lincoln Road is a long strip in South Beach packed with shops, restaurants, little galleries, cafes, and people walking. No cars are passing by, just the feel of nice music playing around, that nice warm Miami breeze, plus palm trees all around. This place is a great casual date that appears to look way better at night when the lights come on, and it feels almost cinematic in a way. Imagine two, walking side by side, walking down the sidewalk, brushing hands, laughing at something random, and even stopping for a dessert. With the unique cafe and dinner places, it gives a nice touch to it. I found this the best setting for my romantic film.

Costuming Options

 Costuming Options- (my choice post)

NATE

- In the first scene, Nate will have a rushed look, either a hoodie or a simple t-shirt. With his backpack being zipped half open plus off his shoulder. He will also be wearing a nice watch. The colors would most likely be gray, white, or a navy blue, representing purity but also representing that sense of desire in him.

-In the club scene, Nate will be wearing a black fitted tee, with a simple gold chain, and a watch.

SERENA

-In the first scene with Serena, she will be wearing a fitted white top, with gold jewelry, and have her hair down, nice and flowy. The colors that will be used are a creamy white, blue, and soft brown.

- At the club, Serena will be wearing a brownish blackish dress, that's slightly bold and flashy. Showing there isn't that much innocence. Her jewelry will be gold.

Boyfriend(DAN)

  • Well fitted, Smells/looks presentable, handsome, needy, cocky.

Production Company Logo

 Font- Simple serenity, Thicker Inline

Colors- Black, dark azure, Gray azure

Canva

Main option-

My main production company logo would be called Prime-Time Studios. The fonts I used for the letters were Simple Serenity for prime time and Thicker Line for studios. In my film, I will incorporate a watch that shifts between scenes. I wanted to incorporate time into my logo. In this picture, I use the same colors overall to set a tone for my logo. With light and dark colors of the same font, it shows a presentable logo.

Font- Pixellet TH, Moontime

I made a second logo if the first one doesn't fit as well. Still using the same title but switching up the main image itself, however, still using a watch. In this picture, the watch is placed and buried in the sand. Using fonts like Pixellet TH and Moontime. The words prime time are curving the watch and studios under it.

Planning Post - Audio

In this video you are hearing

the sounds of the first clip of my film. Having the main boy rush to class, and going in minding his own business. Then you hear the room itself fade and all the attention shifting to the door. With sounds it's very important to utilize what is important and what is tp be used. Using clip champ I had put together sounds that will fit well with what I'm working on.

Character Development

Nate

Serena

In the beginning, Nate is simply a normal student rushing into class, who is focused on not being late and not getting in trouble. He’s present at that moment. However, It’s only when the new girl walks in and sits in front of him that everything changes. The sight of her pulls him straight back to that night at the club, which is a moment he wishes he could take back.

His development comes from that realization of how that night felt. At the club, he was confident, playful, and completely himself during their interaction. In that moment, he felt seen and understood. When her boyfriend pulled her away, he realized it was too good to be true. But seeing her again in the classroom forces him to face the fact that it did matter to him. Now, instead of just admiring her from a distance, he has to sit with this feeling of unfinished feelings. His character changes from someone who lets a moment pass to someone who may have to decide whether he’s going to let it slip away again.

Serena is introduced as mysterious and this captivating look, someone who just naturally attracts attention without trying. In the club memory, she is very confident, playful, and has quick thinking, matching his energy. However, her very sudden exit reveals that there are these layers to her life he doesn’t see. In the classroom, she becomes more than just the girl from that night. She represents unfinished emotion and unresolved tension. As the story develops her character can evolve from being just a memory or fantasy into a real person with her own thoughts, choices and possible struggles.

Storyboard

This storyboard represents the outline and shots that will be taken in each individual scene. There are two different setting I my film, and I plan utilizing those scenes as much as possible.

Project Idea and Major Inspiration

  • PROJECT IDEA

Classroom/ Monday Morning

First scene starts with a boy late to class on a Monday morning. He’s sprinting down the hallway, backpack slipping off his shoulder, trying not to draw attention to him. He barely makes it before the lesson starts and slides into his seat really quick, acting like he wasn’t just running for his life.

Right when he finally settles down, someone else walks into the room.

A beautiful girl.

She’s new. The teacher introduces her to the class, and she takes the empty seat right in front of him. The second she sits down, he just stares. He’s caught in a daze, like hes seen her somewhere before. Like this isn’t the first time.

Everything around him starts to blur.

Memory/ The Club

He’s on the balcony of a club with his friends, music blasting, city lights glowing behind them. They’re laughing, dancing, just living in the moment. Then he hears a girl’s voice from below the balcony. She’s outside the club yelling at her friends about something.

The music fades. The lights dim.

All the focus is on her.

He leans over slightly, just watching her. Admiring her without even realizing it. There’s something about her energy. The way she talks. The way she moves.

Then his phone rings.

It’s his mom.

He steps away from his friends and walks outside to hear better. He’s almost done with the call when he hears a voice behind him. It’s her. She makes a small joke about something he said to his mom.

He turns around, caught off guard.

They start going back and forth like playful arguing, almost like they’re fighting, but in a flirty way. It’s natural. Easy. Like they have known each other for years. The tension builds a lot, and you can tell they’re both enjoying it.

Then suddenly, her boyfriend comes up and pulls her away.

Just like that.

He stands there for a second, realizing it was too good to be true. For a moment, he thought he found someone who actually matched his personality.

He looks down at his watch.

Back to Classroom

The ticking will blend into the sound of the classroom. The memory fades.

He blinks.

She’s sitting right in front of him.

And he’s still staring at her, admiring her all over again.

  • MAJOR INSPIRATION

This film is deeply inspired by a moment from my own life. It is reflecting the feeling of experiencing something that seems almost perfect like a mix of awkward humor, flirtation, and a connection that feels real. Only for it to fall apart when you least expect it. The emotions I went through became like a foundation for this story. The situation in the film is not exactly the same, but the feelings are. That sense of something being almost too good to be true.

For me, it happened at a McDonald’s in my hometown after a night out at a club. I ran into someone who felt like my other half at that moment. There was an instant connection, natural and just effortless. But just as quickly as it began, it ended just like that. He walked away, and I later saw a girl run up and kiss him. After that, school started, and I had to see him almost everywhere I went, which made it even harder to ignore what had happened.
