For our first project in class, I was asked to create a storyboard with different shots and angles in storytelling in an attempt to tell a brief story. My project was a school sequence in which I, Gianna, was the main character who was taking a test while one other student, Malia, is struggling and considering cheating. I utilized a variety of shots to represent meaning: an establishing shot opened up the school setting, mid shots placed the two of us within the same space, close ups contrasted my intense calmness with Malia's anxiety, and an extreme close up with a point of view shot revealed her act of cheating. Finally, I used a canted angle to highlight her confusion after being caught. I think I did a good job of selecting shots that matched the emotions of each scene, especially the close-ups and the canted shot, which added drama to the ending. If there's something I could improve on, I'd make the transition between the shots more streamlined, cut down on repetition in my description, and create a visual storyboard so as to make the sequence more engaging.
